This photo was taken at night on the beach at Myrtle Beach, SC. I liked the reflections in the puddle of water left by an ocean wave.
This long exposure was made at night with only the available moonlight. The long exposure made it look like it was taken in the daylight. Taken at Salter Path, NC.
Sometimes a total screw up can give a neat effect. I was doing a long exposure of the condos at Indian Beach, NC and accidently bumped the tripod. The bright lights left streaks in the photo as the camera moved. For other photos visit www.CollectiblePhotography.com
These star trails were taken with a 30 minute exposure shooting up through the trees. The green cast on the trees were caused by a near by street light which gave an interesting effect. Visit www.CollectiblePhotography.com for other photos.

This photo of a halo / sundodger was taken near Stoneville, NC by Albert Cardwell on 10/10/08 about an hour before sunrise. The sun was near the horizon and the halo was straight up above my head. The only halos I have ever seen were around the sun. The sun was below this one. The event lasted for about 15 minutes.

The photography industry lost some great photographers in the past few years including Arnold Newman who passed away in 2006. Arnold Newman made environmental portraits famous with his images of past Presidents, movie stars and other celebrities.
I have photographed Hummingbirds for years. I have photos with their tongue out, but I have never seen one open its mouth like this one. It looked like it was yawning. This was photographed near Stoneville, NC.
This hummingbird was photographed near Stoneville, NC as it took a break to sit down and scratch its neck. The bird had a white neck but had a couple of small red feathers under its neck. Usually the males have a red neck and the females have a white neck. Not sure on this one.
This snake was photographed in the same nest as the photo of the birds feeding below. It was photographed near Stoneville, NC. The birds below had left the nest and another set of birds had started nesting. This snake was found about 2:00 am. The next morning after the snake left, there were 14 birds lined up on the power line. One at a time flew in to look at the nest and then they left. The birds have not been seen since.

I found these two bumble bees clinging on to this flower after a rain shower near Stoneville, NC.
I found these two plastic forks stuck behind sheet metal on an old barn. I'm not sure if someone saved these for a future snack, or just didn't want to litter. This was taken near Stoneville, NC.
I started out this day taking photos of geese. Later in the morning I was photographing cattle near the same location. Later in the afternoon, I captured this shot with the cattle and the geese in the pond together. It was a rare moment for me anyway. This was taken near Stoneville, NC.
This baby praying mantis was about 1/2" long. A mantis caccoon was found a few days before near the same spot. Image was taken near Stoneville, NC in the Summer of 2006.

This image of a mother cow showing some affection towards her calf was taken in the Spring of 2006 near Stoneville, NC.
This image was taken in the Spring of 2006. This was taken opposite directions from the sunset. The sky was bright red near the horizon with emerald green clouds on each side of the red. The low hanging clouds dropped down and formed a complete funnel shape and then vanished back into the sky within 30 seconds. The National Weather Service thought these were scud clouds.
